  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil55 g vegetable oil
  • 1 3/4 cup granulated sugar350 g granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs, room temp
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, room temp115 g Greek yogurt, room temp
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temp240 g buttermilk, room temp
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 1 tsp lavender paste (or extract)

Earl Grey Batter Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup loose early grey tea leaves
  • 2 tsp vanilla bean paste

Buttercream Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened170 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cup powdered sugar240 g powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 1/2 tsp lavender extract
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream30 g heavy cream

Steps

Loaf

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350º F.
  2. 2Bloom the earl 1/2 cup by adding 2tbsp (30ml) boiling water.
  3. 3In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients together.
  4. 4In the stand mixer, beat the 1 cup227 g · Wet Ingredients3/4 cup170 g · Buttercream Ingredients, 1/4 cup55 g, and 1 3/4 cup350 g · Wet Ingredients2 cup240 g · Buttercream Ingredients until fluffy.
  5. 5Add in the 4 one at a time to the stand mixer.
  6. 6Mix in the 1/2 cup115 g, 1 cup240 g, 1 tsp · Wet Ingredients2 tsp · Earl Grey Batter Ingredients1 1/2 tsp · Buttercream Ingredients, and 1 tsp · Wet Ingredients1/2 tsp · Buttercream Ingredients to the stand mixer.
  7. 7Slowly mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  8. 8Divide the batter in two.
  9. 9In one of the batters, mix in the 1/2 cup and 1 tsp · Wet Ingredients2 tsp · Earl Grey Batter Ingredients1 1/2 tsp · Buttercream Ingredients.
  10. 10Layer the batters into a pan lined with parchment paper or a pan greased and dusted with 1 cup227 g · Wet Ingredients3/4 cup170 g · Buttercream Ingredients.
  11. 11Bake for one hour. Time may vary. The loaf is done when it's golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  12. 12Let cool completely before adding buttercream.

Buttercream

  1. 1Beat the 1 cup227 g · Wet Ingredients3/4 cup170 g · Buttercream Ingredients until fluffy. 2-3 minutes.
  2. 2On a low speed, add in the 2 cup240 g.
  3. 3Mix in the 1 tsp · Wet Ingredients2 tsp · Earl Grey Batter Ingredients1 1/2 tsp · Buttercream Ingredients, 1 tsp · Wet Ingredients1/2 tsp · Buttercream Ingredients, and 2 tbsp30 g.
  4. 4Whip on medium-high until light and airy.
